I like to work in a series to learn new techniques or explore new ideas.

Raggedy Reverse Appliqué

Recently on Simply Quilts, I caught an episode with Kim Deneault. She has developed a technique called Raggedy Reverse Applique which she uses for working with kids. I decided to give it a try for making art quilt abstracts.

Making Art from My Own Art

This series is based on using a digital photograph of one of my pieces to make new quilts.

This was a commission piece I did for the Windrush Gallery. I experimented using the digital image of the piece to create new art quilts.

I manipulated the digital image with photo editing software and printed the transform images onto fabric. Two of the images are negatives. I then added paint and quilting to enhance the images.

This piece is similar to the previous except I used all positive images in different colors.

In this art quilt, I used the same image and printed it in different sizes and then enhanced the piece with extensive quilting.

In this piece I used the major lines of the trees as a pattern for quilting the image onto the fabric. Added leaves with metallic threads.
